This is my Floating Stars Quilt. I used all batiks when I made this quilt. I had an issue with the original cutting instructions for the Stars, but after spending about a week working with the pattern (and a lot of math) I increased the cutting strips by 1/4" (width) and was able to achieve perfect floating stars. I do not use paper piecing techniques in my pieced quilts. I strive for perfection using the old-fashioned cutting method of cutting the sqares and then go from there. I showed the quilt in San Antonio, Texas Quilt Show, but did not place due to problems with the Long Arm quilter, who did a very poor job. This quilt was beautiful when I finished the top. All points were perfect and the quilt was square. Lesson Learned from this one: No more custom quilting outsourced!
I love to share my Quilting Projects with other Quilters. My goal is to share my progress on each project that I am working on. This year, 2014, my hope is to complete UFOs and in addition to some new projects. Come along and enjoy and hopefully you can learn from my "hiccups" when making a quilt.
